Instructor's Course Description: One of the great problems of our era is that many Muslims have reduced Islam to a mere checklist of Do's and Dont's. As a result, the life of our blessed, beautiful Tradition has evaporated, only to be replaced by a convoluted mix of ossified rules and exhausted aspirations. The deeper problem, however, is that our Tradition, which fulfills and fosters growth, gets subverted into a path that inhibits healthy behavior. The goal of this course is to explore the basics of Islamic Law, to develop an understanding on how it fits within our lives as something beneficial and practical. The starting text will be Dr. Umar Farooq Abd-Allah's, "Living Islam with Purpose."
