Sunday, October 8th - A Portion of Your Night For Remembrance: Pre-Dawn Breakfast
Our morning began at 4:30 praying for those around us. We then enjoyed breakfast as a community, prayed Fajr, and began our fast with the mindset of thankfulness.
Giving thanks for abundance is sweeter than the abundance itself: Should one who is absorbed with the Generous One Be distracted by the gift? Thankfulness is the soul of beneficence; Abundance is but the husk, For thankfulness brings you to the place where the Beloved lives. Abundance yields heedlessness; thankfulness, alertness. Hunt for bounty with the snare of gratitude for "God."

August Events
Tuesday, August 29th - Strengthening Parent-Teacher Relationships
The Mohammed Webb Foundation held a beneficial workshop on how to establish and strengthen relationships with their child's school teacher(s). Attendees learned and shared ideas on how to sustain a healthy relationship with their child's teacher.
The workshop included presentations by both active school parents and public school educators of varying school levels who gave insight on how to create a positive relationship with the teacher and be a great asset for the school. We also had a session on the signs parents need to be aware of as to know when to intervene, especially at the high school level.
Experts have confirmed that when families partner with schools, children have a high success rate.
Friday, August 25th - End of Summer Campfire 2006
The Webb Foundation held it's annual End of Summer Campfire with friends and family on the warm night of August 25th.

Sunday, May 14th - YMe Breast Cancer Race
The Prophet (PBUH) said: Allah has sent down both the disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for every disease
This year the Webb Foundation created a team to participate in one of the largest walks for breast cancer, the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Walk, that is held every year in Grant Park in downtown Chicago on Mother's Day (May 14th).
Consider the statistics:
There are 2 million women living in the U.S. who have been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in American women. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for women 40-55 years of age.

We celebrated the birth our Prophet Mohammed, peace and blessings upon him, in the month of Rabi' Al-Awwal. It was an afternoon of reflection and gratitude for he who was sent as a mercy to mankind and an example for all of us. God willing, our love for the Prophet Mohammed will keep us together, and fill our hearts.
He is like the sun, small to the eye when seen from afar, But when glimpsed close up. it dazzles and overwhelms. -Imam al Busiri referring to the Prophet in "al Burda"-

One of our favorite events of the year, the second annual "lock in" event was held next door to the Sayeed residence (the neighbors had moved out). The evening began with remembrance and concluded with a raucous game of Mafia that lasted well into the early morning hours. For any of our members who are considering moving in this next year, we ask you to consider timing your move so that we may have access to your empty home for this year's lock in!

The Tivoli Bowl in downtown Downers Grove was the site of our community Eid celebration as we rejoiced in a successful end to the month of Ramadan. Having the bowling alley all to ourselves made for a great evening and of course, no celebration is complete without a pinata and cake!

The Syed family graciously hosted a day of community service where members had the opportunity to assemble backpack kits for Katrina victims. Those who attended loved spending the time with their children in service of other children who are in great need at this time. December 26th 2004 – Sunday Afternoon at the Movies
A local high school theatre was the perfect atmosphere for our community to come together for a movie and and a discussion about the issues raised. We watched “Osama” which was the story of a young Afghani girl living under Taliban rule. The movie led us to discussions regarding human rights, women’s rights in Islam, the “Muslim” world, and our role as American Muslims.

We met at the forest preserve in Naperville, IL and embarked on a community bike ride and/or walk. The 45 attendees then had the opportunity to listen to and talk with a Park Ranger about the local flora and fauna. This was followed by prayer and short talk by Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah as he commented on the importance of our ecological awareness.
August 21st 2004 – Movie Under the Stars
August 21st brought an unusually cool night, but it wasn’t a deterrent for the 75 people who showed up to watch a backyard movie. Families laid out their blankets, and snuggled closely, while watching Running Free. It was a movie about loyalty, friendship, courage, and family.
